Barefoot Garners More National Recognition
June 8th, 2006
Local advertising agency Barefoot’s award shelf is starting to get crowded. Especially after last night when the agency claimed two National Silver ADDY® Awards at the Annual National ADDY Awards Show—one for photography for Proctor & Gamble and the other for a brochure promoting OMS Photography. This type of progress is exactly what Barefoo’s founder, Doug Worple, likes to see in the growing company, “Tonight’s recognition proves that the past year has been one of true creative excellence.”
The winning P&G photograph is one of several stunning product shots, each featuring a different home care item as a design element in a colorful series. “The purpose was to take these everyday home care products and make them beautiful,” said Art Director Adam George. His artistically shot close-up of Gain in mid-pour took the silver. The Gain shot, along with pictures of Dawn, Swiffer, Cascade, Mr. Clean, Bounce, Downy, Tide and others in the C-09 poster campaign appear throughout the hallways of P&G’s Cincinnati headquarters.
Barefoot’s other national silver is for the F’8 Magazine, a photography-rich brochure showcasing the work of Cincinnati photography studio OMS. “We’ve (Barefoot) had a close relationship with OMS for years now. Knowing the company so well opened this project up for an intimate design,” said Jodi Greene, Creative Director. The campaign’s name is a play on words that encompasses both the concepts of photography, with reference to the F’8 stop, an aperture setting on a manual camera, and the word fate. This national award is yet another tribute to Greene’s creative success after having a hand in several regional gold and silver awards over the past few years and bringing home a national gold award last year to what is now Cincinnati’s most decorated agency.
Mark Tutssel of Leo Burnett Worldwide, Susan Credle of BBDO, John Matejczyk of Goody, Silverstein & Partners, and Jesus Martin-Basas of the Bravo Group were among the industry professionals who judged the competition. With nearly 60,000 entries received from agencies all over the country, they decided on 68 national gold awards and 96 national silver awards. Barefoot won two of only five silver awards received by Cincinnati agencies.
The National ADDY® Award Show is a continuation of the agency’s regional success. In all, Barefoot earned 18 of the 46 regional gold awards and 20 of the 94 regional silver awards, a best in show, and several judge’s choice awards at the Regional ADDY® Award Show in February. George and Greene’s winning pieces went on from there to win nationally.
When the news broke, Doug Worple, president and executive creative director, urged co-workers to “give a shout out to Adam and Jodi today, as so many of their creative peers did last night.”
